Advertorial – meal in exchange for a review.
We were recently invited to a preview night of the newly refurbished Albany Pub in Thames Ditton and all I’ve had on my mind since was how I wish we had such an inviting, stylish, warm and friendly pub on our doorstep.
Thames Ditton isn’t a million miles from us and is in a perfect location near to Hampton court and right on the river, perfect for warmer days. Even on colder days, you can’t beat the interior with comfy sofas, a separate dining area and open fires.
The best bit, we thought, was the food. With extensive menus including a vegan one, we were spoilt for choice…
We started our meal with a delicious gin and tonic which we garnished ourselves at the bar and then headed to our table in the separate restaurant area.
Once at the table, we made our choices and were really excited to try the delicious looking food. Nick was driving so sampled some of the non-alcoholic beers and I tried a glass of very nice sauvignon blanc. The wine menu is impressive with lots of choice for those that like to try something different.
For starter I had scallops and Nick had chicken wings. Both starters were yummy and I really enjoyed the perfectly cooked scallops.
For main I had a salmon dish with mash and the most amazing Bouillabaisse sauce and Nick had a steak which was perfectly cooked. I was a little jealous of the chips with his dinner!
Unfortunately, we missed dessert as we had a crying little one at home and had to race back but we saw some of the desserts coming out and will definitely make sure we have one next time – the chocolate bomb looked divine!
We had an amazing meal at The Albany and wouldn’t hesitate to go back for another meal just the two of us or a meal in the day with the children.
Thanks to The Albany for having us.
