Going out for dinner is one of my favourite things, good food, company, and a few drinks – what more could you ask for! We realised recently that we hadn’t been out for dinner with my sister and her husband since we all had children – over four years ago!
Luckily, our friends at The Spring Tavern in Ewell sorted that out for us and last Friday night the four of us jumped in a taxi to sample the new menu and refurb the pub has just revealed.
When we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome and entered into a busy, friendly feeling pub. We found our table in the main dining room which was beautifully decorated with a fire burning and got looking at the menu.
You know you’re in a good pub when all the food that passes your table looks delicious and you can’t decide what to have from the menu!
We decided to share some garlic bread to start with our gin and tonic’s and after some deliberation, we decided on our food!
To start my sister and I both had potted crab and lobster and the boys had chicken wings. Our starter was particularly delicious, I loved the freshness of the starter and the boys really enjoyed the chicken!
After our starters, we browsed the extensive wine menu and decided on a bottle of sauvignon blanc. I loved the wine on display, if only I could have a wine rack like this at home!
For mains my sister and I had the same again (can you tell we’re sisters)? We had the pork belly with scallops and the men in our life both had steak; one had the fillet, the other the rump steak.
All the mains were delicious and everything perfectly cooked. I especially loved the pork belly which was really tender and went so well with the scallops and dauphinoise potatoes.
To finish we couldn’t not have a dessert as we saw some coming out and they looked divine! Our friendly waiter gave us some suggestions we decided on chocolate desserts for my sister and I and the boys had a creme brulee and pear tart.
They were delicious and everyone really enjoyed their end to an amazing meal!
We were all really impressed with The Spring Tavern, the pub has such a laid back and friendly vibe, the food was delicious and all the staff were really friendly and welcoming!
We loved our evening out and have promised not to leave it for another four years before the next meal!
*Thanks to the Spring Tavern for inviting us for this meal. We were offered a meal in exchange for this post and all views are 100% our own*
