A Spa Break is my dream kind of break and when it’s combined with an Anniversary, a stay in a beautiful hotel and a driving experience for the man in my life it’s surely got to be a perfect escape.
We were invited to stay at the Brooklands Hotel to experience all they have to offer from a spa, a delicious restaurant and just across the road Mercedes Benz World for those that want to combine a driving experience with their stay. The hotel is built on the site of the original Brooklands motor racing track and you can see lots of the heritage featured in the interior of the hotel.
We arrived on a Friday afternoon and loved the contemporary feel of the reception area which led into a quiet area with sofas and the 1907 Restaurant. We were quickly checked in and went up to the fourth floor to see our room.
We were blown away when we saw our suite, the Percy Lambert suite; which had three huge areas, a sofa area with TV, a dressing/work area with wardrobes and a desk, the bedroom and a spacious bathroom. The room had a decking area with table and chairs outside with amazing views over the race track.
We quickly unpacked and went to explore the Spa before dinner.
The Spa at Brooklands Hotel is situated on the 3rd floor and as soon as you enter you feel relaxed. We arrived in the robes and slippers we found in our bedroom and had a quick explore before we had massages.
We both had a 50 minute Wine Makers massage which uses Caudalie products and aims to recreates the ritualistic steps of the wine-making process on the body (the Caudalie products are made from vine extracts taken from French vineyards). They use massage techniques using bare hands and bamboo on pressure points and it was one of the most relaxing 50 minutes ever! I would highly recommend this treatment.
They also have facials, manicures, pedicures to name a few and had a sauna, steam room, a meditation room with gently heated water beds, a peace & relaxation area and a spa café.
After our massages, we headed to the relaxation area which was where the outdoor hot tub was situated. It was big enough for 12 people and was definitely one of the best places to be! It was a beautiful evening so we sat outside for quite a while reading and having a little glass of prosecco!
I was so relaxed I could have easily had a little nap but cocktails and dinner were calling, so it was back to the room to get dressed. We started our evening in the hotel’s 1907 bar and sampled two of their cocktails; I tried the Brooklands Cheeky Lady cocktail – a delicious gin based creation made with gin, lychee liqueur, fresh raspberry, lime and Nick had a negroni.
The bar area had a really nice atmosphere with lots of people meeting and music in the background.
Once we’d had our cocktails it was into the restaurant for our dinner. The restaurant was busy, but didn’t feel it with fast service and tables with space.
We both had a really good night’s sleep, the bed was so comfortable and the best bit – no wake up call from a toddler at 5am. Every parent’s idea of bliss!
After a little lie in we went downstairs to have a relaxed breakfast in the 1907 restaurant and really enjoyed the cooked breakfast, pastries and fruit from the buffet.
After a few more minutes chill out time in the spa it was over the road to Mercedes Benz World for Nick to have a 30 minute AMG driving experience.
I think this was the highlight of Nicks year, he really enjoyed it and I’d really recommend this experience to anyone who wants to drive on a track!
All in all, we had a wonderful anniversary breakaway. I would really recommend the Brooklands Hotel as a weekend destination that offers something a little bit different. If you’re a couple and one wants a spa break but the husband fancies a track day it’s the perfect compromise.
