Have you ever taken your little ones to the races? We haven’t, but Amelie has been asking to go for a little while as we always pass racecourses on our drives and she is intrigued to see what goes on.
We’re super excited this bank holiday weekend to be going to a bank holiday fun day at Epsom Downs Racecourse. Amelie and Evie love animals and we like the races so I’m hoping it’s a match made in heaven!
If you haven’t heard of the bank holiday family fun day it’s a full day split into two parts. In the morning there is a trainers open morning where you can see what goes on behind the scenes. You get up close with the stars of the track seeing their stables and their trainers.
This starts at 8.30am and then at 9.30am the racing yards will open for everyone to explore and chat with the staff.
From 11.30am the gates will open for an afternoon of eight races (the first one starting at 2pm). There is so much entertainment for little ones as well as being able to watch the races. Children can get involved in running races, face painting, a climbing wall, a bouncy castle, zip wires and derby hoppers. They also encourage families to come in superhero dress-up and there is a competition for the best dressed!
If you’re looking for a family day out this weekend it looks as though the sun will be shining and this will be a really great day out for all ages.
