Christmas in July is always a little surreal for me. You walk off the street in 30 degrees heat to discover all the products you’ll be wearing, consuming or gifting in potentially minus temperatures.
Everyone loves Christmas though don’t they and with 174 days until the big day why not look at what will be on our lists this year…
Tesco Christmas in July
I arrived at the Tesco Christmas in July event at the OXO Tower in London today and didn’t really know what to expect. I was greeted with a Christmas tree lined ‘street’, complete with snow and behind a red door, I discovered the Tesco Manor House.
Inside was absolutely everything anyone could need for an amazing Christmas, from decorations to gifts, to home accessories, and of course food.
My first stop on the tour was the decorations. I loved the baubles on offer, especially the silver glitter ones. They all seemed beautifully made and were really reasonably priced with x3 silver glitter ones costing £2.50.
I also found stunning Christmas cards, my favourites being the laser cut and ‘pop the prosec-hohoho’ designs. The gift bag range with everything from traditional designs to fun reindeer ones for the little ones there was something for everyone.
Christmas 2018 will see a beautiful range of flowers from Tesco with all the traditional reds, whites and greens but with new ranges incorporating blush flowers in the bouquets, as you can imagine I was really excited about these!
Next up was the sweet treats. I was particularly keen to see the ranges for little ones and wasn’t disappointed with what I found. I loved the character chocolate treats and know Amelie would find the unicorn really special. I also loved the make your own unicorn cupcakes and the make your own gingerbread house kits.
The packaging had been really well thought out for lots of the sweet treats with cookie treats hiding inside a musical lantern which could then be a decoration used every year.
I find buying gifts for everyone really hard so it was great to see some inspiration for this year.
The unicorn trend was found in the gifting range with coffee cups, mugs, plush toys and eye masks to name a few.
There were also lots of prosecco inspired gifts, my favourite being the ‘prosecco fund’ money box. We all need one of those don’t we?!
For little ones I thought these ‘make your own’ dinosaur, mermaid and unicorn kits were fantastic and a really good stocking filler.
This goldfish soap just made me giggle so I had to include it, a perfect present for the person that has everything!?
I then found the Christmas Eve boxes and ideas for gifts inside them. I haven’t done a Christmas Eve box for the girls yet, so I have no idea what I would put inside them but I did love the personalised box Tesco are doing and the Snowman ‘night before Christmas’ range was lovely.
I love looking at the new clothing ranges when they are launched and I was really impressed with the F&F offering on show today.
My favourite was this cream, fluffy unicorn jumper which not only is amazing value at £10 (sizes 6 – 22) it also has a mini-me matching version with sizes from 12 months. We all now know which Christmas jumpers I’ll be wearing with the girls this year!!
The accessories and other clothing ranges were gorgeous with lots of sparkles. These bags were stunning and would look great for Christmas parties.
The Toys of 2018
Today was definitely an education for me… into what I will be buying for Amelie this Christmas!
I heard all about the LOL, collectibles and slime trends which won’t be going anywhere, so I can guarantee that these will be on Christmas lists this year.
For the larger or more traditional gifts, I was really impressed with Tesco’s own range of toys, the Carousel range. From interative toys, to a £15 wooden train set and a beautiful wooden chess set you could find a wonderful present for all ages.
I was so impressed with this wooden dolls house, complete with accessories for just £45. Compared to the dolls house we have and others I have seen this is great value and a perfect present for children.
Tesco also had a great range of exclusive toys such as this Unikitty Party and Cloud Car kits. They looked like a brilliant present for the slightly older child who could spend time building these.
I couldn’t not mention the food could I, Christmas for me is definitely all about family and food!
First up was the Tesco Finest Christmas dinner for two, which would be perfect for us if we didn’t go away this year. The meal comes with a full Christmas dinner, a small bottle of champagne and dessert. It looked delicious, even on a hot Summers day!
Tesco’s range of seafood looked divine with seafood on gorgeous slate plates, prawn cocktails and smoked salmon which looked yummy.
The sweet treats and cheeses also looked fantastic and if you’re looking for show-stopping ideas, try the baking brie with a fruit glaze, the chocolate Unicorn cake and the Snow Globe filled with chocolate mousse and raspberry compote.
I am now officially excited for Christmas 2018 and am writing my lists! What was your favourite from the above? Are you excited?!
