Yesterday was the day that (many) Walton-on-Thames residents have been waiting for, the opening day of the new M&S foodhall in Church Street.
The store has opened just in time for Easter and I was very lucky to be invited along to the opening to see the new store and ranges.
Following a ribbon cut, Store Manager, Andrew Stables and his 60-strong team welcomed a very large crowd into the store.
The store is impressive; it’s a large, bright and had a vast range of M&S’s quality food and drink products. Within the store you can also find a 60-seat café which offers hot food, drinks and a delicious looking range of cakes and pastries.
There is also a bakery with freshly cooked products and I can confirm the croissants were delicious!
Store Manager, Andrew Stables said: “We couldn’t be happier with the turnout. What a fantastic reception from the local community. Most of our team is from the local area so they’ve seen lots of familiar faces in store today and we look forward to making every moment special for them in the coming weeks.
“It looks like our Dine In meals have been the most popular items so far and the café has been a huge hit, which is great to see.”
What can we be excited to find in store?
You may have noticed I have a love for anything floral (and pink) and the range of flowers in the new store was beautiful. With seasonal blooms in abundance, you are spoilt for choice. I took home a gorgeous bunch of roses which look stunning on my kitchen table.
Easter at M&S
You can also find a fantastic Easter range in store. There is everything you need for celebratory dining – from show stopping main dishes like M&S’s British Boneless Rib of Beef with Porcini Stuffing to sumptuous desserts like the Easter Nest Cake, complete with chocolate buttercream and decorated with sugar-coated chocolate eggs there.
If you’re looking for Easter eggs, Easter egg hunt supplies and chocolate presents for the little ones you will also find a fantastic range. My favourites were the Belgian milk chocolate egg with Champagne truffles, for Amelie a chocolate ‘My Little Pony’, the floral egg and the quail eggs!
If you’re a hot cross bun lover I can thoroughly recommend the salted caramel and chocolate ones. They are so delicious I will be going back for another pack very soon!
The ‘Dine in’ Range
Finally, the range I am most excited to see in my new local Foodhall, the M&S Dine in for £10 range. If you’re a parent that doesn’t/can’t get out for dinner as much as they used to this is a fantastic deal so you can have restaurant quality food within the comfort of your own home.
We love this range and often buy it for special occasions when we can’t get a babysitter. For our weekend meal, we chose the Gastropub range with a bottle of white wine and a dessert.
I’m very excited about the newest addition to the High Street and was extremely impressed with the store, from the range of products, to the cafe and the wonderful staff.
The store is located at 20-32 Church Street, Walton-on-Thames, KT12 2QP and is open from 8am – 9pm Monday to Saturday and 11am – 5pm on Sundays.
