Top places to look for family holidays

March 6, 2018

It’s holiday booking season and for lots of us finding that perfect getaway that suits both parents and children is really important.

We spend a lot of money on holidays so it’s important to get it right. Holidays are our time to re-connect as a family, for us as parents to relax and for our children to learn and experience new adventures.

When we first started looking at family holidays we were a little overwhelmed at the choice and the number of tour operators, so through my research (and some we have tested) here are the ones that I think look the best…

I can’t guarantee the perfect holiday, but if you want a scaled down list read on!

Here are our top ten picks:

1) Mark Warner

Mark Warner is a holiday company we would love to try, as they look like they have wonderful family-friendly resorts. They specialise in both Summer sun and Winter holidays so there’s something for everyone.

With childcare both in the day and in the evening, sports, water sports and beautiful handpicked European resorts there is something for everyone.

Mark Warner have a new resort in Turkey for Summer 2018, which looks fantastic. Mark Warner holidays are well worth a browse.

2) Scott Dunn

We’ve travelled with Scott Dunn and I have to say the service was second to none. From my first phone call, through to the beautiful presentation of our travel documents through to the amazing holiday, they really know how to look after families and customer service is at the heart of everything they do.

Scott Dunn have an amazing range of European destinations for those that don’t want the long flight times and if you’re brave enough to travel long distance some of the faraway hotels look stunning.

We travelled to Daois Cove in Crete and loved the infinity pool, the childcare options and the luxury feel to the resort which welcomed children.

3) Tots to travel

Tots to travel craft family holidays that make sure you have everything you need when away. All resorts have 20+ items of baby and toddler gear available if needed private pools are gated and offer a 30 point safety check.

They have a new collection, specially created for families with under 5s which features; Kids’ activities, family dining, chill out, 20+ items of baby & toddler kit, family sized rooms with at least 2 bedrooms, fun bedrooms for little ones, play zones and toy boxes.

4) Sani Resort

Sani Resort is a family-friendly resort that sits within a 1000-acre family-owned ecological reserve of pine forest, olive groves and golden beaches.

With white sand beaches, childcare by Worldwide Kids, a marina, numerous restaurants, beautiful pools and friendly staff Sani Resort offers a holiday you’ll remember.

It’s such a favourite, TripAdvisor reviewers have voted the resort 11th in the Top 25 Hotels for Families in the World category for 2018!

5) Villas

Booking a villa holiday can be a great idea if you want to spend time exploring or if you are taking Grandparents with you (for that little extra help with the kids).

My list of top places to find a villa holiday are; James Villas, Bookings for you and Simpson Travel.

6) Martinhal Resorts

We haven’t been to Martinhal,  but whenever I ask colleagues or friends for family holiday recommendations, Martinhal is always mentioned. The rooms at Martinhal Beach Family Resort in Sagres all have partial or full sea views and you can also book semi-detached villas with fully equipped kitchens and open-plan living areas.

They have a kids’ club which looks after babies from six months up to teens, meaning parents can have a well-deserved break if needed.

The best bit, it’s in the Algarve so a really short flight, perfect if you have very little ones!

7) TUI Sensatori

I have only heard good things about TUI Sensatori holidays. They specialise in all-inclusive family-friendly resorts in beautiful locations. Most of the hotels are 5-star, with fantastic pools and top restaurants.

From Mexico, to Crete there is a flight time and a resort for all families.

8) Centre Parcs

If you want to stay closer to home and want an active family holiday why not try Centre Parcs?

With 5 locations across the UK there is a resort to suit every location and family. There are 200 outdoor and indoor activities, a Spa, lots of restaurants and the Subtropical Swimming Paradise.

9) Tots Too

Tots Too offer holidays to stunning family resorts with everything that you might need for holidays with children.

They offer guaranteed connecting rooms & suites, a private babysitting service, advice on the best resort and a dedicated concierge. They can order everything you need once away from nappies to booking your spa treatments.

Which holiday operators/resorts have you found to be fantastic for families? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Have never tried holiday operators as we’ve always booked directly with hotels. Should try to take a look at some of these. #thursdayteam
