Travel is a big part of our family life, whether it’s finding new places in the UK or trying to find hidden gems abroad. It’s what we all look forward to, it’s ‘that thing’ that you work towards and the time you know you’ll reconnect as a family.
My daughter’s favourite game is ‘going on holiday’, whenever we ask her where she is going she answers ‘Greece’, our last family holiday. We try to make every family holiday unforgettable so at just three years old our daughter remembers all the details; the scooter she rode to the marina, the dancing she did in the evening by the sea, the fantastic team at the creche and importantly the memories made as a family.
She doesn’t remember what she did yesterday, but she remembers a holiday that we went on nearly a year ago.
What makes our holidays unforgettable?
Being together…
This is the most important part of our holiday, the time we spend together as a family. I see the girls’ relationship grow and we get to spend one-on-one time with each of them. Without the distractions of day to day life you learn so much about each other and for me that’s the most special part of our holidays.
A family holiday that looks like our holidays before children, but caters for them too
As a couple we spent a lot of time travelling and found a love for finding stylish retreats. Being able to find holidays that can still offer us this lifestyle but cater for our children’s needs as well means everyone gets the best of both worlds.
Time together
Our holidays are also for us. As busy parents of young children we need time to recharge and have a break. We love resorts that can offer us creche facilities when we need them so we can escape for a coffee or lunch together.
Something a little different
An unwritten rule we have is to always try and find new places. We limit ourselves to Europe at the moment, due to flight times, but we like to find different holiday locations so we can show the girls different cultures and new places. They might not remember everything we show them, but their adventures now will live with them through the memories we capture in image or film.
The people
The best holidays we have been on have had one thing in common, the people. I’ll never forget the team who looked after us on safari, they were caring, they went the extra mile for us and they made us feel completely welcome. Any resort or hotel that can do this for us on a family holiday will make our stay unforgettable.
The location
I do love a beach and so do the girls. It’s something so different from home and I can see them learning from everything around them. A safe, clean and beautiful beach is a winner for our family and you’ll find us there most mornings.
Choice
We love resorts that can offer us choice. Choice of activity, of food, of what adventure we’ll have that day. That creates memories as each day is different. We drop the routine and go with the flow.
What makes a holiday unforgettable for you?

It’s amazing what kids remember about travel! I will ask my four year old what she did at school that morning and she can’t tell me a thing, but remembers when we were on vacation and some guy ran a stop sign and I got upset lol!
Ah your photos are beautiful! I love family holidays whether it be a busy unpacked trip to DisneyLand Paris or a trip to the seaside. its all about family time and creating special memories for the kids #ThursdayTeam
Good luck with your entry. I have just been looking through my Sani photos and I really want to go back. (maybe even child free one day).
