We recently celebrated Evie’s first birthday and to be honest I didn’t really set out with a theme in mind for her party it just happened!
I chose a beautiful cake for her from a local cake maker and that set the theme for the party. I went for a simple unicorn theme, which essentially meant unicorns, pink and rainbows. Perfect for a 1st birthday party!
I decided to keep the party simple this year as Amelie’s 1st and 2nd parties were so busy I hardly saw her or any of our guests, so we kept Evie’s to just family and it was so nice.

I used our dining room table as the ‘centre’ of the party and laid out her cake, a brownie I had made, her balloons and cups and plates. The cake topper on the brownie was from Poppet Creations and it looked gorgeous, I loved the sparkles.
The balloons were probably the little ones favourite part of the party, all of the toddlers wanted the rainbow balloon! I found the rainbow balloon and pink/purple round ones in John Lewis and then the 1 balloon was from Best Day Ever Party Shop.
We had presents, play time (for the little ones) and a BBQ dinner. We were so lucky with the weather, considering it’s October, we stayed inside but luckily it was fine for the BBQ!
We had a wonderful time celebrating Evie’s first birthday and the most important thing was that she enjoyed it!
