A letter to my one year old

October 4, 2017

It’s what every parent says ‘where does the time go’, but it’s so true, I really can’t believe that my second daughter is turning one today. I wrote this for Evie a week or so ago and hope she will love to read it back when she’s older.

A letter to my one year old

To my darling Evie, Evie Annabelle, Evie moo, our little Ebee. How on earth are you one? When I wrote this I could hardly see from the tears in my eyes.

I hope that this letter, the pictures and all the videos I have been doing over the last 9 months are a wonderful memory for you even if it may seem i have a camera for a face at times.

It feels like yesterday we found out we were pregnant with you, I was so scared and had to check you were ok so we had a private early scan and when I saw the little bean shape with a heartbeat I’ve never been so happy. I had a feeling you were a little girl then and I was right!

You came into the world via a planned c section. It was an amazing experience, I’ll never forget seeing you for the first time, hearing your cries and seeing your Daddy hold you with tears in his eyes.

You were beautiful, a bonny baby as they’d say and immediately you had us all in love with you. I think you looked like me.

The early days were hard as I struggled with feeding but once we had that all sorted you flourished.

You have been the happiest, most chilled out baby ever. I am continually surprised at how chilled you are, you get dragged on the school run-an hour past nap time and you smile, you’re in the car going somewhere for Amelie and you’re smiling, Amelie takes a toy and you move on.

You’re the second in our family, but the third in the Bakers and your sister and cousin love you so much, even though they may not always show it! You don’t let them get away with it though and always put up a fight.

Your favourite words are Dada, Ada, Mama, bye and wow. That’s my favourite, I love that everything you see you say wow to, but a genuine wow. You are blown away by the little things and I hope you always stay that way.

Your Favourite thing is absolutely your pink bunny. She goes everywhere with you, you even try and hold her when you are walking with the walker even if it nearly causes accidents!

A month ago I would have said you were a Daddy’s girl but recently there have been many cuddles reserved for mummy. Shy cuddles when someone we haven’t seen for a while comes to see us, tired cuddles, climbing up my leg cuddles.

You love food, your favourite is avocado, rice and yoghurt especially when your sister is feeding you. You also love anything adventurous, music, animals and other babies.

Your biggest love is Ada your sister. I’ve loved seeing your relationship grow. I can see the way you look up to her, you watch her play for tips and you’re so excited when we go to get her from preschool.

You’re the most wonderful little person to be around who brings a smile to everyone’s face with your cheeky smile and we can’t imagine life without you. You make our family complete.

I hope you Grow into a kind, inquisitive little girl that appreciates the fun, adventures and what’s special in life as you do now.

We love you Evie, more than you know.

Happy birthday my baby girl

Mummy xx

This was beautiful! It seems like in the blink of an eye our once dependent babies become independent individuals. Memories last a lifetime and she will love the letter.

    Ps. She’s a beauty!

Awww, this is so lovely. I hand-write letters for each of my children on their birthdays and seal them in an envelope. I plan to give them to them when they are maybe 21 or so. A letter is so much more precious than the usual gifts. Gorgeous photos. Love the photo of the three of them on the little red ride-on. Lovely they are so close in age with their cousin x
